Description
The Sanmi-Ittai Trinitas series draws on stock associated with the closed Hanyu distillery in Saitama Prefecture and is bottled at cask strength as a blended malt without an age statement. Cask 55009, an Oloroso sherry cask, was bottled in 2022 at 56.9% for an event allocation, making it one of the more recent releases in the Trinitas catalogue.
The Oloroso sherry maturation is stated clearly in the cask data and delivers a rich, dark fruit-forward profile: dried cherry, fig and warm baking spice with the depth of colour and body that a sherry cask adds to spirit of this weight. At cask strength the sherry influence is full and direct, and the single cask nature of this release means the character is as specific as any individual sherry butt allows. The event-only distribution places it among the more selectively released expressions from the Trinitas series.
