Description
The Last Piece Japanese Edition is a blended malt whisky assembled by independent bottler T and T Toyama from three craft distilleries: Eigashima Shuzo in Hyogo, Nagahama in Shiga and Sakurao Distillery in Hiroshima. Released in 2022 for the Japan domestic market at cask strength 50% in a 700ml format and carrying no age statement, it brings together the different house characters from three distinct regions of Japan.
All components matured in Ex-Bourbon cask, and the resulting vatting combines Eigashima's light grain-forward character with Nagahama's clean, delicate pot still malt and Sakurao's coastal, sea-influenced profile. At cask strength the Ex-Bourbon influence is concentrated throughout, with vanilla and soft fruit expected to thread across all three malts. The Japanese Edition positions itself as a showcase of what Japan's craft distillery wave has collectively produced, assembled by one of Japan's more active independent bottlers.
