Description
White Oak is the single malt range of Eigashima Shuzo, holder of Japan's oldest whisky licence dating to 1919, distilling on the Akashi coast of Hyogo prefecture. This 5 Years Old is a single cask release bottled at cask strength for the European market, drawn directly from one Oloroso sherry cask.
Oloroso maturation lends generous dried fruit and nutty sherry depth to what is typically a clean, light-bodied new make from Eigashima. At 50% the result combines orchard freshness with fig, dark raisin and a soft spice on the finish, characteristic of the house's small-batch single cask programme.
