Description
Togouchi Kiwami is a no age statement blended whisky from Chugoku Jozo in Kure, Hiroshima, and one of the brand's named sub-line expressions. Kiwami, meaning peak or summit, positions itself as a step up in the Togouchi range, released for the European market at 40%.
The liquid matures in Ex-Bourbon casks inside the company's railway tunnel, and the tasting notes point to fresh fruit, chocolate and vanilla, a profile that reads as rounded and approachable rather than aged and complex. The blend draws on domestic and sourced stock as is typical for Togouchi, and the chocolate note in particular suggests some richer wood influence at play, whether from the cask or the blend composition. The result is smooth and easy-drinking.
