Description
This NAS single-cask bottling was distilled at Chichibu in Saitama in 2012 and released under the Ichiro's Malt label for the Japanese domestic market. Chichibu, Venture Whisky's distillery established by Ichiro Akuto in 2008, uses the Ichiro's Malt branding across its cask-selected domestic releases, connecting each bottling to the founder's personal selection.
Matured in Ex-Bourbon oak, the spirit displays the vanilla, green apple and warm cereal character that is typical of Chichibu's unpeated house style at this stage of maturation. At 62% from a single cask the delivery is bold and unfiltered, the Ex-Bourbon barrel's contribution clear and clean against the distillery's fruit-forward new make. The domestic Japanese market designation makes this a home-market allocation drawn from the same 2012 vintage pool as the international single-cask releases.
