Description
The Game is a named edition in Chichibu's domestic single cask programme, a release from Venture Whisky's Saitama distillery that marks specific cask selections for the Japanese market. This 2011 vintage was bottled in 2017 at 6 years old and cask strength under that name.
The maturation vessel is a Madeira cask, a wine-seasoned wood that works relatively quickly on a vibrant new make and contributes dried fruit, brown sugar, fig and a honeyed, wine-like warmth. At six years in Madeira wood, the cask's influence is well-established and likely the dominant character frame, threading its rich, sweet dried-fruit notes through Chichibu's underlying bright orchard freshness. At 61.3% cask strength, the bottling arrives at full intensity, presenting the Madeira influence alongside the Saitama distillery's characteristic fruit-forward spirit.
