Description
Distilled at Chichibu in Saitama in 2010 and bottled in 2015 after five years, this single cask Ichiro's Malt expression was released for the Japanese domestic market. The single flavour note recorded for this cask, leafy, hints at the green freshness that Ex-Bourbon maturation can preserve in Chichibu's new make at this age, where the spirit is still close to its production character.
Five years in American oak keeps the profile in the lighter, more herbal register: vanilla, fresh green leafiness and orchard fruit over a clean cereal base, with the oak adding structure without weight. At 59.7% cask strength the spirit is focused and direct, offering a clear window onto what the 2010 vintage was doing in standard bourbon wood at the midpoint of its maturation.
