Description
Distilled in 2009, the year after Chichibu opened in Saitama, this single cask was bottled in 2014 under the Ichiro's Malt label as a release for Sushi+Soul in Germany. Venture Whisky founder Ichiro Akuto developed a network of market-specific single cask selections during the distillery's early years, and this is among the first generation of those releases.
Ex-Bourbon maturation over five years drives clean vanilla and coconut over Chichibu's naturally fruit-forward new make, with soft apple and a lightly sweet cereal note building alongside the American oak character. At 61.6% cask strength the release carries the vivid intensity that made early Chichibu single casks from this vintage so sought after by German collectors and specialists.
