Description
This is a single cask from Neisson, the small and well-regarded family distillery on Martinique, selected and bottled by Velier of Genoa, the leading name in collectible rum and a house known for full-proof, additive-free releases. The No. 7 XO bottling carries ten years of age from the 2015 vintage and arrives straight from the barrel at roughly 57.6%.
Under the Martinique AOC the spirit is fresh cane juice only, with no added sugar. Ten years of tropical ageing in ex-bourbon oak push this past its years, and being a single cask it reflects the character of one barrel rather than a blend. Expect a grassy, peppery agricole core with vanilla, toasted oak and dry baking spice, a high-proof pour that opens with a little water.
