CDI Boulet de Canon 15

Compagnie des Indes is a respected French bottler, and this Boulet de Canon 15 is a multi origin molasses blend finished in coffee casks, bottled at 46%. The coffee influence is front and centre, the nose offering coffee, roasted notes, malt and wood, and while a light smokiness sits underneath, the roasted coffee character clearly leads the profile.

The palate brings coffee, spice, dark chocolate and an intense, well integrated roast, finishing dry with more coffee, roasted notes and a touch of vanilla. The base rum is genuinely tasty and easy to drink, though the coffee cask is assertive enough that earlier releases in the series leaned more on smoke than this one does. A flavoured rum done with skill, this is a fine choice for coffee lovers and a natural base for an espresso martini, rewarding those who enjoy a bold, roasted, coffee forward style.
