Description
La Sirene Limited Edition 2009 is an Original Rum Creation blend from Compagnie des Indes, marrying a 2009 Cuban single cask with a 7 year old Paraguayan rum, certified unsweetened and bottled at a soft 43%. The respected French house has added unusual cask finishes here, a Ratafia Champenois influence on the Cuban portion and French whisky casks on the Paraguayan.
The result is a dry, subtle and elegant blend. The nose brings dried fruit, vanilla, young white oak, toffee and pale fruit such as grape and vine peach, the palate turns spicy with young wood, cocoa and tobacco, and the finish stays spicy and dry with sweet, tobacco and dried fruit notes. The cask work adds an intriguing layer without shouting, keeping the whole thing refined rather than loud.
