T.D.L Planteray Prestige Cellar (LMDW) 2000

Bottled by Maison Ferrand under its Planteray label for La Maison du Whisky, this is a single cask of T.D.L distillate from the 2000 vintage, the light column-still rum of Trinidad Distillers Limited carried out to 25 years. Trinidad's living style is clean and fragrant, and at this age the wood has had a long conversation with the spirit, yielding a refined and balanced pour at 56.4%.

The profile leans minty and herbal, with eucalyptus and fresh thyme over tropical mango, cedar and the soft chocolate-and-dried-cherry signature of Ferrand's Cognac-cask ageing. It rewards a long stretch of air, opening from a slightly closed start into polished oak and gentle spice. This is not one of the wild, high-octane TDL releases but a measured, elegant interpretation, a sipper for those who already enjoy mature Trinidad rum and want it dialled toward grace rather than intensity.
