Description
Ampov Ambre is a single cask rum from Ampov, a craft distillery in Cambodia, a rare and emerging origin on the rum map. Distilled on a pot still from molasses and left unsweetened, it is given a short maturation of around six months in an ex-port cask from its 2023 vintage.
Young, pot-still and honest about its short time in wood, this leans on the distillate's own character lifted by the cask. A port finish typically brings red-fruit sweetness and a touch of nutty warmth, even over a brief period, while the unsweetened 45% keeps it clean and direct.
