Description
Dutch bottler Nobilis Rum selected this Hampden single cask, the CH marque, distilled in 2018 and aged six years in ex-bourbon at a forceful 67.6%. Hampden is the island's benchmark for high-ester funk, and this is a young, high-energy expression of exactly that.
From the classic double-retort pot still and molasses, it is a fruit bomb: roasted pineapple, tropical fruit salad and funky ester on the nose, then more intense pineapple and tropical fruit on the palate with a buttery, cookie-dough richness underneath. The youth shows in a slight sharpness and the 67.6% strength asks for rest and a little water. The added-sugar status is unconfirmed, so it is best read as a dry, full-proof pot-still rum. A vivid, expressive single cask for drinkers who already love Hampden's loudest fruit.
