A nine-year Marie-Galante agricole from Bielle, ex-bourbon at cask strength of 54.6%, balancing fresh sugar cane and citrus with milk chocolate, dried fruit and a round, vanilla-and-oak finish.
Description
Bielle, the Marie-Galante distillery known for cane-variety experiments and high-proof whites, bottled this Brut de Fut as a limited edition drawn from its 2015 distillate. Made from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice and matured in ex-bourbon, it sits under Guadeloupe's IGP rather than the Martinique AOC, an aged island agricole released at natural strength straight from the barrel.
At nine years and a cask strength of 54.6% with no added sugar, it shows real balance: citrus, fresh sugar cane, young wood and papaya on the nose, then a palate weaving cane, milk chocolate, dried fruit and citrus together. The finish is round and warm with wood and vanilla. The bourbon barrel adds sweetness of flavour without any added sugar, and the proof stays well integrated rather than hot, giving a poised, fully dry aged agricole. A rewarding neat pour for drinkers who want maturity and cane character in the same glass.
