A1710 La Perle 2024

A1710 is a small Martinique operation at the Distillerie du Simon, distinctive for using a pot still rather than the island's usual creole column. La Perle is an unaged blanc distilled from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice, the raw white tier of agricole made for capturing pure cane character.

The pot still lends a slightly fuller, oilier texture than a column blanc, and the spirit stays firmly in fresh-cane territory, with sugar-cane, pear and a vegetal lift on the nose, then citrus and more sugar-cane across the palate. The finish is oily and warm with guava and a saline olive note. Bottled at 54.5% with nothing added, it is dry, green and lively, a pot-still take on the Martinique blanc that drinks well neat and shines in a Ti' Punch.
