A single-cask Longueteau aged eight years, fresh Guadeloupe cane juice turned herbal and fruity with berries, citrus and allspice over a vegetal, cognac-tinged oak finish, dry and composed at 47.3%.
Description
Part of Longueteau's Harmonie Collection, this Opera Batch 2 is a single cask from the oldest family-run agricole distillery in Guadeloupe, distilled from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice and aged eight years. As Guadeloupe agricole it carries the IGP, and eight tropical years give it real maturity without losing its cane backbone.
The nose pairs berries and citrus with allspice and a vegetal lift, while the palate stays herbal and fruity with nutmeg, the grassy core of the cane still legible under the spice. The finish turns woody with a cognac-like note from the ex-bourbon wood. Bottled at 47.3% and unsweetened, it is dry and spice-forward in the way aged agricole tends to be, a considered single barrel that lives up to the harmony in its name.
