A cask strength rum from Ron Aldea in the Canary Islands, distilled on a pot still from molasses and aged over four years in ex-bourbon oak, selected by Les Freres de la Cote and bottled at a powerful 59.1%.
Description
This is a Canary Islands rum from Ron Aldea, the well regarded La Palma distillery, selected by the independent bottler Les Freres de la Cote for its La Isla Bonita series. A pot still spirit from molasses, it was aged a little over four years in ex-bourbon oak and bottled undiluted at a forceful 59.1%. Pot still distillation gives more body and weight than the lighter column style, and at full cask strength that character comes through with intensity. Expect a rich, oily and spirit driven pour with vanilla and oak from the bourbon casks and a warming, concentrated heart, one that rewards a few drops of water to open it up. A characterful full proof bottling from a distinctive island origin.
