Swell de Spirits Bielle Easy Peasy No. 6 2023

Bielle sits on Marie Galante, the small Guadeloupe island where blancs are bottled high by local custom, and Swell de Spirits selected this unaged cuvee, Easy Peasy No. 6, from the 2023 harvest. It is pure cane juice rum, distilled from fresh pressed vesou in the agricole style and left unaged so the raw spirit speaks for itself.

Bottled at a punchy 59.9 percent, the strength is well woven in. The nose is bright with sugarcane, lemon peel and green vegetal lift, the palate keeps that fresh cane and citrus energy front and centre, and the finish turns fruity with a saline, faintly licorice and iodine edge typical of the island. This is the classic Marie Galante blanc profile with the dial pushed up, a vivid, snappy white that shines in a Ti Punch and stands up to ice and lime without losing its character.
