A 2000-vintage Dominican ron from Oliver and Oliver under the Quorhum name, bottled at cask strength and 50%, rich and woody with caramel, vanilla, dried fruit and chocolate over a sweet, oaky finish.
Description
Oliver and Oliver Ron Quorhum Cask Strength (Nancy G. de Blanck) 2000 is a Dominican ron from a 2000 vintage, made by Oliver and Oliver, the well-known Dominican blender behind the Quorhum, Cubaney and Opthimus ranges. This special bottling is presented at a fuller cask strength of 50%, giving it more weight than the house's standard 40% releases.
Built on a molasses base in the soft Spanish style, it shows a richer, more concentrated character at strength. The nose carries wood, caramel, vanilla and dried fruit, the palate deepens with dried fruit, wood, chocolate and caramel, and the finish runs woody and oaky with a clear sweetness. The Oliver and Oliver house style tends toward roundness and a gentle sweetening rather than dryness, and the extra proof here lends body and depth. It makes a warming, dessert-leaning neat pour for an unhurried evening.
