A 40 year old Clarendon distilled in 1984 and bottled by Famille Ricci for Nectar Of The Daily Drams, an aged pure pot still Jamaican left at a towering cask strength 64.2% and undosed.
Description
This is a deeply aged Clarendon from the 1984 vintage, selected by French bottler Famille Ricci for the Nectar Of The Daily Drams label and matured in ex-bourbon oak. After four decades it is bottled at a notable 64.2% cask strength.
No tasting notes are recorded for this bottling. Clarendon pot still rum of great age typically trades sharp solvent funk for concentrated tropical fruit, deep oak, dried orange, leather and tobacco, with the very high proof keeping it intense despite the years. Long ageing at this strength yields a powerful, layered old Jamaican, best approached slowly and with water, aimed at collectors of vintage pot still rum rather than casual drinkers.
