Mates White Rum

Mates White Rum is a three year old unaged styled blend drawing molasses and cane juice spirit from multiple distilleries and both pot and column stills, an honest, no additive white rum built for the bar. At 40% it is pitched as a mixing rum rather than a contemplative sipper.

The profile is clean and light, an alcoholic lift on the nose with a vegetal, floral palate, the cane juice component lending a grassy edge and the pot still adding a little body. Bottled without sweetening, it keeps things crisp and neutral enough to disappear into a drink. This is daiquiri material first and foremost, the kind of versatile, dry white rum that earns its place in cocktails rather than on its own. Judged as a mixer it does its job tidily, lively and fresh in a shaken drink.
