CDI Cuba (Bottled for Denmark) 2009 is a Cuban single cask from Compagnie des Indes, the terroir-led French house known for natural, origin-focused bottlings. Distilled in 2009 and bottled at twelve years for the Danish market, it is unsweetened and at cask strength, a dry, full-proof reading of an island usually associated with lighter, softer rons.

Distilled on a column still from molasses and matured in ex-bourbon oak, it keeps the clean Cuban backbone while gaining intensity from the strength. The nose is nutty with vanilla and caramel, the palate brings vanilla and chocolate, and a coffee note carries the finish. At 57.4% it has real punch, and some find the high proof and clean Cuban spirit leave it sharp and spirit-forward. This is a dry, single-cask Cuban for drinkers who want strength and purity over softness, rewarding a drop of water and unhurried neat sipping.
