Worthy Park is the clean, precise single estate of St. Catherine, a moderate ester house that polishes its fruit rather than chasing the heaviest funk. This Collectors Series bottling from Romdeluxe takes a JMWP marque to 17 years, a long age for Jamaica, and presents it as a single cask at a measured 53.7%.
Distilled from molasses on the pot still and matured in Europe rather than the tropics, the slower continental ageing lets the oak build without flattening the fruit. The nose is vegetal and grassy with roasted nuts, milk chocolate and green apple, and the green apple, banana and roasted character carries through a dry, spicy palate into a finish of chocolate, vanilla and oak. The result is fresh and herbal with the distillery's typical banana intact, an even handed sipper for drinkers who like Worthy Park balance over extreme ester intensity.
