Description
Diamond is DDL's home distillery and the workhorse behind much Guyanese rum, leaning cleaner and more approachable than the heritage wooden stills. This 2008 single cask was selected for The Nectar by Maison Ferrand, matured 15 years in ex-bourbon and bottled at a full 54.1%.
The base is molasses. Distilled in the lighter Diamond and Savalle column style, it is unlike the oily Port Mourant marque, leading instead with molasses, toffee, bitter chocolate and light wood. Bottled at cask strength without the dosage of the El Dorado house line, it shows the spirit and the bourbon cask more openly, a richer and more direct take on Demerara than the sweetened brand bottlings.
