Isautier L’Audacieux Rhum Vieux Agricole (LMDW) 2006

Isautier is a long-established Reunion distillery, and this L'Audacieux, selected for La Maison du Whisky, is an agricole made from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice from the 2006 vintage. Fifteen years of tropical maturation gives it real depth, with the island heat driving a high angel's share and pushing the oak well beyond its years.

Distilled on a column still and matured in ex-bourbon oak before bottling at cask strength of 58%, it balances power with accessibility. The nose joins honey and tropical fruit to dried fruit and wood, the palate brings sugarcane freshness, vegetal cane and honey, and the finish carries orange, citrus, dried fruit and spice. Caramel and beeswax round it out, with grassy agricole character emerging through the richness. This is an expressive, full-strength cane-juice rum that pairs fruity depth with firm oak, rewarding for those who like their agricole intense yet balanced.
