Description
Barbancourt is Haiti's most famous distillery, working from fresh-pressed sugar cane juice in the agricole spirit, though as a Haitian rum it sits outside the French AOC. This eighteen year old single cask was selected by That Boutique-y Rum Company, the honest, no-additive UK bottler curated by Peter Holland, and bottled at cask strength, 57.2%.
The single-cask, full-proof format gives an individual, undiluted snapshot of well-aged Haitian cane-juice rum, with no added sugar. At this age and strength expect a grassy, earthy core deepened by long oak ageing into spice, dried fruit and warm wood. A drop of water opens it up. A characterful, dry sipper for those who like their cane-juice rum aged and at full power.
