TBRC Foursquare 2023

That Boutique-y Rum Company, the no-additives label under Atom Brands, bottled this twelve year old Foursquare from Richard Seale's St Philip distillery. It is a true single blended rum in the Barbados idiom, double-retort pot married with column distillate, made without added sugar or colour, so what is in the glass comes from cane and cask alone.

Matured in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at cask strength, it shows a riper, darker side of the house style, with fruity, leathery aromatics and a touch of cinnamon, then raisin, oak and dark chocolate on a toasted palate. The finish stays toasty and leathery with a savoury, lightly salty edge. At 50.7% it is rich and well structured, a recognisably Foursquare pour for drinkers who like their Bajan rum dry, full proof and weighted toward dried fruit and wood.
