Description
Long Pond Plantation Finish Rye Whiskey 1996 is a single cask Jamaican pot still rum distilled at Long Pond in Trelawny in 1996 and bottled at 23.5 years old by Maison Ferrand, finished in rye whiskey casks. Long Pond is a historic Wedderburn house, funky and fruit-forward, so expect overripe banana and pineapple with the rubbery, briny hogo the estate is known for.
Bottled at cask strength, 49.1%, this unsweetened single cask sits apart from the lightly dosed mainstream Plantation blends. The rye finish lends a peppery, grainy spice over the long-aged pot still core, while more than two decades of maturation rounds the estate's loud esters into something deep and resinous.
