Description
Rest & Be Thankful Clarendon MBK 1998 is a single cask of pot-still Clarendon, the workhorse Jamaican supplier, bottled at a substantial 25 years and full cask strength. MBK is one of Clarendon's pot-still marques, and at this age the rum trades raw funk for a more layered, fruit-driven maturity, with citrus, tropical fruit and peaches on the nose.
Distilled from molasses on pot stills and matured in ex-bourbon oak, it shows pineapple and tropical fruit across an oily, fresh palate, with light ester notes threading through. The finish runs round and woody with dried fruit and banana. It can read a touch flat and astringent on the first sip before opening into fuller body. Bottled unsweetened at 57.1%, this is a long-aged Clarendon for drinkers who value mature, fruit-forward pot-still rum over high-ester intensity.
