Opportune 1791 bottles this white rhum from Martinique, distilled from fresh-pressed sugar cane juice rather than molasses and left unaged so the cane speaks for itself. At 50% and unsweetened it sits squarely in the agricole blanc tradition, the style built for freshness and snap rather than oak.

Distilled low on a creole column to keep the grassy, vegetal cane congeners in the spirit, it noses on raw sugarcane, green grass and a fresh vegetal lift with a squeeze of lime. The palate is dry and unmistakably agricole, vegetal and grassy with a faint bitter edge, and the finish carries that sugarcane and green character through with a touch of spice.
