Clément Private Cask (Cuvée Amateurs)

This Private Cask from the Cuvee Amateurs series is a single cask Clement, the 300-year Martinique estate's full-proof selection. Distilled from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice on a creole column still, it was matured close to six years in ex-bourbon oak and bottled unsweetened at cask strength.

At 57.3% it is vivid and dry, opening with fruit-schnapps brightness, green apple, lime and walnut on the nose. The palate turns more savoury, with licorice, cedar wood, a vegetal edge and apricot, while the finish stays herbal with a lingering licorice note. Tropical ageing gives this near-six-year agricole the depth of an older rum while keeping its fresh, green snap intact at full proof. A characterful, single cask Martinique that rewards a drop of water and shows the dry, spice-and-fruit side of aged Clement.
