Longueteau L’Ambré (Classic Collection)

Longueteau, the oldest family-owned Guadeloupe agricole distillery still running, presents L'Ambre in its Classic Collection. The base is rhum agricole from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice on a column still, here finished in cognac casks and bottled unsweetened at 45%, an amber expression sitting between fresh blanc and fully aged rum.

The cognac casks lend a smooth, fruity character without masking the house signature, which carries a distinctive green lift. Aromas of cognac, gentle sweetness and pineapple lead into a palate of caramel, vanilla and more cognac, finishing fruity with a touch of warmth. The result is an easy, rounded agricole where the cane base shows through the barrel influence rather than being buried by it. A smooth, fruit-forward Guadeloupe amber that drinks well neat or lengthened, true to Longueteau's recognisable funk.
