Description
Danish bottler Romdeluxe is known for high strength single casks, and this Wild Series release takes Foursquare's strict no additives Barbados distillate down an unusual road: full maturation in an ex-malt whisky cask rather than the usual bourbon barrel. Distilled in 2007 and aged fifteen years, it lands at a forceful 61.2%.
The whisky cask steers it away from the typical banana and vanilla Barbadian fingerprint toward something fresher and brighter, with green apple, citrus and a lively spice. The palate stays fruity and spicy with a malt driven edge, finishing on lime, a metallic note and a touch of salt. Unsweetened and at full strength, the oak stays in check while the fruit leads, an individual, slightly wilder spin on a familiar distillery for those who enjoy the cross pollination of rum and whisky casks.
