Romdeluxe Collectors Series No. 15 JMWP 2005

Bottled by Denmark's RomDeluxe in its Collectors Series, this is a 17 year old cask strength Jamaican distilled in 2005 from the JMWP marque, pointing squarely to Worthy Park stock. Worthy Park is a 100 percent pot still, single estate house in St. Catherine with a clean, precise style and moderate ester, and that character comes through clearly here.

Matured in ex-bourbon and bottled at 54.4 percent, it is funky and fruity, with banana, almost rotten tropical fruit, spice and oak balanced by a creamy sweetness from the cask. The palate is spicy and woody with dried fruit, finishing on wood and fruit. The sugar content is not disclosed, though the profile reads as cask derived richness rather than dosage. A characterful but approachable aged Worthy Park that stays easygoing instead of aggressive, for drinkers who enjoy the estate.
