1423 bottles Travellers Belize at eighteen years as a single cask S.B.S release, unsweetened at 58% with coconut, vanilla and cocoa pouring through nose, palate and finish, a Foursquare-leaning sipper with single-cask punch.
Description
The S.B.S line is 1423's transparent, detail-obsessed Single Barrel Selection out of Denmark, and this Travellers Belize 2005 is a single cask carried eighteen years and bottled unsweetened at 58% from ex-bourbon wood. It captures Belize rum at full age and strength, with no dosage smoothing the picture.
Belize's typical markers run right through it: coconut, vanilla and cocoa repeat from nose to palate to finish, joined by caramel, dried fruit, orange and a little spice. The long bourbon-cask ageing builds a sweet-oak, Foursquare-adjacent profile, and the alcohol carries with decent integration for the proof. Some find it a touch one-dimensional on the nose before the palate opens up, but the balance and value win it favour. With its dry build and single-cask character, it makes a satisfying neat sipper for anyone who enjoys bourbon-influenced rum with coconut and vanilla depth.
