A 15 year Belize Travellers single cask bottled at 55% by Perola, dry and woody with cocoa, sandalwood, grapes and gentle spice over a glue tinged, roasted backbone, smooth enough for relaxed neat sipping.
Description
Perola Travellers Bellamy's Reserve MBT 2007 is a single cask Belize rum from the Travellers distillery, bottled at 55% under the Bellamy's Reserve label by Perola. Distilled in 2007 on a column still and aged 15 years, it is unsweetened and leans into the dry, woody, chocolate driven side of the Belize profile.
Fifteen years in ex bourbon have built a deep, barrel forward character. The nose shows coconut, glue, barrel and roasted notes, the palate turns dry and spicy with sandalwood and dark chocolate, and the finish brings cocoa, cinnamon and a grape jelly sweetness. The wood is pronounced but the spirit stays smooth and rounded, the alcohol nicely managed at this strength, which makes it more approachable than its dryness might suggest. With its cocoa, sandalwood and gentle spice it is an easy neat sipper for drinkers who enjoy woody Belize rum, a comfortable and characterful pour rather than a loud one.
