Description
This is a 1990 Demerara from the Enmore estate, bottled as a single cask by Germany's Heinz Eggert under the Rum Artesanal label and carrying 32 years of age. The MEV marque is one of the contested wooden-still codes from Guyana, so the safest read is the still character itself: a wooden pot profile, dry and woody, with the pencil-and-herb signature that defines these old vintages.
Matured in ex-bourbon and presented at 57.6% cask strength without added sugar, it opens slowly. Expect apricot and citrus up front, then pencil shavings, dry timber and bitter herbs that lean almost medicinal on the finish. Three decades of cask have rounded the edges and added length, making this a focused, unhurried sipper for those who already know the 1990 Demerara style and enjoy giving a rum an hour to open.
