Paradiso Black Tears Dry Spiced, bottled by The Island Rum Company, is a Cuban spiced rum from the Paradiso distillery. It takes light molasses spirit, distilled on a column still and matured in ex-bourbon oak, then leans it firmly toward coffee and cacao, a deliberately drier spin on the spiced category.

Coffee dominates throughout. The nose is all coffee, dark chocolate, mocha and a cooling menthol lift, the palate stays on coffee and dark chocolate with spice and a touch of alcohol, and the finish brings barrel, wood and more coffee with a sandalwood note. As a spiced and flavoured rum it sits closer to a mocha or coffee liqueur in spirit, and it performs best when it powers a cocktail or long drink rather than being sipped neat. An approachable, coffee forward Cuban for drinkers drawn to dark chocolate and espresso flavours.
