Mohan Meakin Old Monk White Rum is the clear, unaged counterpart to India's well-known Old Monk brand, made at the historic Mohan Meakin distillery. Where the classic Old Monk is a dark, sweet aged rum, this white sibling strips things back to a light, unaged spirit.
Bottled at 37.5% and carrying a 2017 vintage, it is firmly a mixing rum rather than a sipper. Expect a clean, mild and faintly sweet character with little oak influence, the sort of light base built for cocktails and long drinks. A no-frills white from a famous Indian name, best judged on its purpose as a mixer.
