Heimat Distillers Port Mourant Ramero Rum Single Cask Bourbon PM 2003

Heimat Distillers selected this single cask of Port Mourant, the marque from the legendary double wooden pot still built of greenheart, and finished it in port. PM is the heaviest and most distinctive Demerara profile, all oil, anise, liquorice and dark fruit, and this just under twenty year old bottling delivers the classic wooden still signature. It is offered at cask strength and without sweetening.

Distilled from molasses, matured in ex-bourbon oak and finished in port casks, it noses on leather, wood, liquorice and citrus, with the green apple note that often marks a younger PM. The palate is oily and medium spicy with roasted wood and liquorice, leading to a dry finish of wood, raisin and roast. At 59.2% the alcohol asks for patience and a little water, and the port edge sits alongside the bourbon cask spice rather than dominating. Dry, woody and uncompromising, it suits drinkers already deep into their Demerara journey.
