This is a Wild Series single cask from RomDeluxe, the Danish bottler best known for high strength, full character releases under stark black and white animal labels. Drawn from a 1998 Nicaraguan distillate and chosen for whisky.dk, it pairs serious age with full proof intensity: 24 years in ex-bourbon oak, bottled unsweetened at 61.2% from one barrel.

Molasses spirit in the Spanish style usually trades on softness, but cask strength and a long sleep push this somewhere weightier and drier. Expect caramel and toasted walnut on the nose, a palate of nutmeg, oak and more nut, and a warm finish edged with cocoa and chocolate. There is surprisingly little over oaking for the years involved, and the strength carries real heat, so a drop of water and patience suit it. A dry, intense pour for drinkers who want a Nicaraguan with age and grip rather than sugar.
