An unaged New Yarmouth overproof from Compagnie des Indes at 50%, drawing on both molasses and cane juice, all esters and glue with nail polish, banana and tropical fruit over a rounded finish, smooth enough to sip yet built for bold daiquiris.
Description
Compagnie des Indes bottled this New Yarmouth from its Great Whites line, an unaged overproof at 50% drawing on both molasses and sugar cane juice. New Yarmouth has become an independent bottler favourite for its robust, high ester pot still spirit, and stripped of any oak this puts the distillery's raw funk on full display.
Double retort pot distillation gives it an ester saturated nose of glue, nail polish, banana and tropical fruit, and the palate stays squarely in that lane with more glue, fruit and a rounded edge. Unaged and unsweetened, it is all about the white spirit's character rather than barrel influence. At 50% it is smoother and more mixer friendly than the fiercest Jamaican whites, keeping the New Yarmouth fruit and solvent intact, which makes it as happy neat as it is powering a bold daiquiri.
