Tio Pedro Gran Reserva is a blended rum from the Made By Hand label, drawing molasses distillate from several countries and ageing it in sherry wood, bottled unsweetened at 40% with an average age around five to six years. It sits in the sherry forward, spice driven corner of blended rum.

The sherry cask is the leading voice, lending sherry, dark fruit and a warm, spicy character across nose and palate, with a woody, sugary finish. There is real intensity for a 40% bottling, a rostier, spicy depth that surprises given the modest strength, though the sherry influence is dominant enough that it can lean toward a fortified wine character. Certified unsweetened, its sweetness reads as wood and fruit rather than added sugar.
