CoR Caroni No. 3 1998

CoR Caroni No. 3 comes from The Colours of Rum, a young Polish bottler with a purist, cask strength, no additives approach and a reputation for top tier single casks. The rum itself is drawn from Caroni, the legendary Trinidad distillery that closed in 2003 and became one of the most collectible names in the category. This single cask is 24 years old.

Matured in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at a powerful 62.9% with nothing added, it is a dark, classic Caroni: tar, roasted notes and barrel on the nose, then a palate of roasted coffee, rubber, dark chocolate and vanilla over dried fruit, with a creamy mouthfeel carrying into a long, cocoa and rubber finish. It balances the dirty signature with real accessibility and stands among the stronger continental 1998 casks. Best taken slowly, it rewards time in the glass, with a small drop of water on hand if the strength needs taming.
