Clarendon Rumclub Private Selection Ed. 27 EMB 1995

Clarendon is a Jamaican workhorse running both pot and column stills, and its 1995 EMB pot-still stock is prized old-Jamaica intensity. This single cask was bottled by Spirit of Rum for its Rumclub Private Selection, drawn from that revered vintage and aged tropically for nearly 27 years into something dense and demanding.

Distilled on the pot still from molasses and matured in ex-bourbon casks, it is bottled unsweetened at a towering 67.1%. The nose brings barrel, cherry, orange and dark spice, the palate turns roasted, spicy and intense with dried fruit, and the finish stays woody, minty and long. Decades in Caribbean heat have piled on oak and concentration while keeping the fruit vivid, with the menthol and black-tea threads that mark the great old Clarendons. A huge, dry, ultra-fruity EMB for seasoned drinkers, one to set beside the other legendary 1995 bottlings.
