A cask-strength single-cask Hampden LROK from 2010, bottled by Velier at 10 years, a pure single Jamaican carrying the estate’s bright tropical fruit and pineapple over an oily pot-still body at 62.2%.
Description
Velier Hampden Trelawny Endemic Birds (Black Billed Streamertail) LROK 2010 brings together Velier, the most prestigious name in collectible rum, and Hampden, the Trelawny estate that sets the standard for high-ester Jamaican funk. From the Endemic Birds series, it is a single cask bottled at ten years and full cask strength, built on the LROK marque.
Distilled on Hampden's double-retort pot stills from molasses and matured in ex-bourbon oak, it leads with bright tropical fruit and pineapple over the oily, mouth-coating body that defines the estate, with floral, caramel and banana notes filling in around the fruit. The wild ester character runs underneath, as it does in everything Hampden makes. Bottled unsweetened at 62.2%, this is a concentrated, fruit-forward Hampden single cask, a collectible pour for drinkers who want the distillery's signature at full proof with an iconic bottler behind it.
