A cask-strength single-cask Hampden from 2012, bottled by Transcontinental Rum Line at nearly ten years, carrying the Trelawny estate’s tropical fruit, banana and cognac-like richness over a spicy, oaky body and a nutty, leathery finish at 58.4%.
Description
TCRL Hampden 49# (HD Distillery) 2012 is a single cask of Hampden, the Trelawny estate that defines high-ester Jamaican funk, bottled by Transcontinental Rum Line at close to ten years and full cask strength. Even where the exact marque detail is held back, the Hampden signature comes through in ripe banana and tropical fruit lifted by a cognac-like richness.
Distilled on Hampden's double-retort pot stills from molasses and matured in ex-bourbon oak, it carries the house oily weight, with vanilla and wood framing the fruit. The spicy, woody palate leads into a nutty, leathery finish with tropical fruit lingering underneath. Bottled at 58.4% without confirmed dosage, this is a robust, characterful Hampden single cask, intense but not extreme, well suited to drinkers who want the estate's fruit and funk at honest strength.
