An elevee sous bois agricole from the family Martinique distillery Neisson, fresh sugar-cane juice rested around eighteen months in ex-bourbon oak and bottled unsweetened at 50%, a lightly aged amber between blanc and vieux.
Description
Neisson Tatanka Rhum Eleve Sous Bois is a lightly aged agricole from Neisson, the small family distillery founded in Martinique in 1931. Elevee sous bois is the amber tier sitting between white and vieux, oak-rested for around eighteen months, here in ex-bourbon casks, and made from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice.
Bottled unsweetened at 50%, it stays dry and full of cane character while the short oak rest adds colour and warmth. Expect Neisson's grassy, vegetal core to gain a layer of vanilla and gentle baking spice from the barrel, drier and more spice-forward than a sweet aged rum. Good neat, over ice, or in a more rounded Ti Punch.
