Enmore Rumclub Private Selection Ed. 22 REV 1994

This is an Enmore Demerara rum bottled by Spirit of Rum for the Rumclub Private Selection, a 1994 vintage aged over twenty-seven years and offered at cask strength, single cask and unsweetened. Demerara rum is all about the heritage stills now gathered at Diamond in Guyana, several of them irreplaceable greenheart-wood vessels no other distillery has, and this comes off one of those old wooden stills.

The wooden-still distillate and long tropical-into-continental ageing give the deep, classic Demerara signature, dark plum and dried fruit, black tea, leather and bitter chocolate over roasted, charred oak. At 54.5% and with nothing added it is intense yet rounded and unusually balanced for its age, the kind of dark, savoury, endlessly sniffable rum the category is prized for. From a vintage long revered among Demerara drinkers, it is a world-class sipper for seasoned enthusiasts, best taken neat and slow.
